Abstract

The inco rpo ra tion of Spanish military fo rces in intern a tional opera tions has i n cre a sed the need for tra n s l a tion servi ces in ord er to ach i eve pre ci se and i n d i s pen s a ble co m mu n i c a tion betwe en the mem bers of d i f ferent arm i e s . W h i l e there exist a few dictionaries which translate military vocabulary from English into Spa n i s h , t h ere are none from Fren ch into Spa n i s h . The military are , t h erefo re , forced to resort to bilingual general dictionaries when they struggle to translate and to make themselves understood. In this paper we analyzed the lexicographic treatment given to military vocabulary in this kind of d i cti o n a ry, its inclusion and tra n s l a ti o n , and we eva l u a ted the proposed equivalences.
